Course Reserves

Course Reserves

Both physical and electronic course reserves are available at the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campus libraries.

  • To access a reserved item, check for availability in the library catalog by searching for the course number or instructor name (make sure to change the dropdown menu next to the search box to “course reserves” from “library resources”).
  • For faculty wishing to request new course reserve items: please fill out this online form.  Contact libraryhelp@pacificu.edu with any questions.

eReserves

eReserves are electronic copies of course readings where the whole work is not needed, which you can make available to your students online. For all eReserves, please check for copyright compliance before requesting scans or posting material.

If you have an electronic copy of your course reserve you may upload it to Moodle. Contact edtech@pacificu.edu for assistance.

If you need an electronic copy of your course reserve the library can provide you with scans of print materials when the following criteria are met:

  • Materials are for instructional use.
  • Materials include no more than one chapter, or up to 10 percent of a book (whichever is less), or a single article from a journal issue. See our table of fair use “safe harbor” guidelines for size restrictions on other formats.
  • Materials meet the Fair Use Guidelines under U.S. copyright law (Title 17, United States Code). See our guide to using copyrighted material for instruction for guidance.

Note: If you have received permission from a copyright holder to use material, the limitations of extent/amount used above do not apply (except as specified as part of permission).

If your materials meet the above criteria, you may drop them off at the Forest Grove or Hillsboro circulation desks or email libraryhelp@pacificu.edu to request scans.

If your materials do not meet the above criteria (for example, you want to use more than the amounts specified above), you may wish to conduct a more in-depth fair-use analysis – contact copyright@pacificu.edu for assistance. For assistance identifying alternative resources, contact a liaison librarian.
